mandarinstudent Posted July 18, 2006 at 05:44 AM Report Posted July 18, 2006 at 05:44 AM I was wondering how many times you can extend an L visa and for how long you can extend it each time. Ive heard you can extend it 2 times, each time one month...Ive also heard you can extend it longer. Anyone here with experience in this? Quote
roddy Posted July 18, 2006 at 05:51 AM Report Posted July 18, 2006 at 05:51 AM General rule seems to be that you can get two one-month extensions easily enough, just by turning up to the PSB and asking for it. The only time I've heard of extensions past that are when a school has guanxi and repeatedly extends the visa on behalf of a teacher. Might be possible though. You may get short thrift though if they know you are working locally. Quote
liuzhou Posted July 18, 2006 at 06:04 AM Report Posted July 18, 2006 at 06:04 AM You can extend three times if you are visiting family who are Chinese citizens. Or at least, I did a few years ago. (My wife is Chinese. I visited her!). Here, recently, the PSB have been refusing to renew L visas for people known to be working. This is new. Some sort of crackdown after people were abusing them. Like the lunatic who pasted a sign to their wall offering illegal private tuition! Quote
