johnd Posted July 21, 2006 at 06:51 AM Report Posted July 21, 2006 at 06:51 AM I'm not in Beijing, but I was wondering Brendon, are you going to wear a yellow carnation or something else to identify yourself! Quote
yonitabonita Posted July 21, 2006 at 02:17 PM Report Posted July 21, 2006 at 02:17 PM Hi folks Hope the Sunday meetup goes well. I won't be able to make it, I have a 24 hour hardseat trainride to Chengdu to enjoy instead. So, hopefully meet you in September. Yonitabonita. Quote
billiardsmike Posted July 21, 2006 at 09:50 PM Report Posted July 21, 2006 at 09:50 PM I'm with Madot and Venture160. A lot of newcomers could use support and advice after they arrive for the fall term. I'm arriving extremely early (Aug. 2nd) so I can take my time with apt. hunting, red tape, etc. I'm game for anytime after that. Quote
Brendan Posted July 22, 2006 at 01:23 PM Report Posted July 22, 2006 at 01:23 PM Dajia hao just to confirm i'll be turning up at Lush Sunday July 23 at 5pm, and will be looking forward to meeting up with whoever else arrives. Don't think i'll need the yellow flower, i'll come as myself, ie, quite weedy, glasses, short hair, and probably looking round for someone like you! Mingtian jian Brendan Quote
gato Posted July 22, 2006 at 04:30 PM Report Posted July 22, 2006 at 04:30 PM Remember to bring your PlecoDict to demo for Brendan. Quote
mrtoga Posted July 23, 2006 at 06:46 AM Report Posted July 23, 2006 at 06:46 AM May be a bit late but will swing by between 5 and 6. Nothing to demonstrate I'm afraid, apart from a tendency to keep people waiting..... Quote
ocpaul20 Posted July 23, 2006 at 08:56 AM Report Posted July 23, 2006 at 08:56 AM Can't make it this time, but will definitely try and make it next time. Quote
Brendan Posted July 23, 2006 at 11:31 PM Report Posted July 23, 2006 at 11:31 PM We had our meetup, all two of us! Great to meet Tom and a big thanks for the PlectoDict demo. It looks good. Who can tell me the best place in Beijing to get a Palm? Quote
mrtoga Posted July 24, 2006 at 01:55 AM Report Posted July 24, 2006 at 01:55 AM I swung by about 5.30, but an (Irish?) guy in Lush said he knew Brendan, but that Brendan wasn't there at that time. Another Brendan perhaps? Anyway I ended up having a Japanese meal across the road. Maybe next time..... Quote
gato Posted July 24, 2006 at 02:33 AM Report Posted July 24, 2006 at 02:33 AM Who can tell me the best place in Beijing to get a Palm? Try Zhongguancun's Hailong Plaza (海龙大厦). It's six-, seven-story building, just north of the Carrefour in Zhongguancun, stuffed with vendors selling all sorts of electronic goods. Quote
venture160 Posted July 24, 2006 at 09:11 AM Author Report Posted July 24, 2006 at 09:11 AM Sorry I was out of town for some business stuff, so I wanst able to meet up. Whos up for this Sunday at Lush again? Quote
roddy Posted July 30, 2006 at 03:37 AM Report Posted July 30, 2006 at 03:37 AM Anyone going along? I has hoping to make it up but have got a bunch of work I didn't get through earlier. Quote
Josh-J Posted July 30, 2006 at 07:24 AM Report Posted July 30, 2006 at 07:24 AM Heh, I'm leaving the day before, but then I'm no good with this kind of social thing anyway It is a really good idea though, hope it goes well Quote
ocpaul20 Posted July 31, 2006 at 09:06 AM Report Posted July 31, 2006 at 09:06 AM Can we do a meet somewhere near Lido Hotel area chaoyang district sometime perhaps - anyone else live near there? Quote
Qcash3 Posted July 31, 2006 at 02:49 PM Report Posted July 31, 2006 at 02:49 PM I'm game to meet anywhere, although I will not be in Beijing until August 31st-September 1st. I think it is a good idea to have some type of forum meeting, it'd be pretty cool. Quote
girlwonder Posted August 1, 2006 at 08:54 AM Report Posted August 1, 2006 at 08:54 AM It'd be awesome to have a meet! I'm leaving Beijing on 31st August, so anytime then would be great. Yay! Quote
doumeizhen Posted August 27, 2006 at 02:12 AM Report Posted August 27, 2006 at 02:12 AM Hmmm... I guess this is idea has faded. Too bad, I was going to come here an suggest a meet-up as an excuse to get Roddy away from his desk, but I guess that didn't work last time either... Quote

Hehe, Roddy doesn't get off that easy.... There is another thread asking basically the same thing, but I believe poster was not aware of this thread. It seems that the meeting is still plausible, but most people won't be in Beijing or settled for the new year until around the 6th. Quote
tlevine Posted August 27, 2006 at 10:15 PM Report Posted August 27, 2006 at 10:15 PM If you want to have another, you should probably make a new thread and link to this one so people don't have to read through four pages of posts Quote
Qcash3 Posted August 28, 2006 at 12:12 AM Report Posted August 28, 2006 at 12:12 AM No one has to read through four pages of post. There is a see last post function on the threads. Quote
