Qinghua Housing

Hi, does anyone out there know about the housing situation at Qinghua University? I read the thread regarding BLCU housing, and I am wondering if it works the same way at Qinghua? Any information regarding the dorms or alternative housing at Qinghua would be awesome. I will be studying on a Chinese government scholarship which covers housing, so should I still worry about arriving early to find a place? The admission notice I received said that I should register by September 14th, and classes will start on the 18th. Originally I had planned to arrive in Beijing on the 29th-30th, should I still arrive this early to find housing? Thanks in advance for the help.

There are lots of rooms available around the Tsinghua uni, but the price is respectively competitive for there are too many universities around there, it's not difficult to find a place to stay, however, for your situation, I suggest you can stay in the hotel nearby for the first couple of days you arrive, then try to find a better accomondation. It's not that hard.

The Qing1hua2Yuan2 Bin1guan3 Hotel is located just to the east of Tsinghua University.

This hotel is 50 yards north on a short side street with no name running off the north side of Chengfu Road between Zhong1guan1cun1 Dong1lu4, which ends at the East Gate of Tsinghua University to the west, and Wudaokou Light Railway Station, which crosses over Chengfu Road, to the east.

If you are in a taxi, it is best to ask for “Cheng2fu3 Lu, Wu3dao4kou3 Qing1gui3zhan4 de xi1 biar1” (Chengfu Road to the west side of the Wudaokou Light Railway Station.),

It is across Chengfu Road from the pink 20-storey Huaqing jiaYuan apartment complex, which has many towers and is on the south side of Chengfu Road. On the short (100 meters) side street, it is across from the new multi-storey Dong2sheng2 Da4lou2.

You can see neon hotel signs in Chinese that are visible from Chengfu Road, and there is a sign in front of the hotel with “HOTEL” in English). There are also the two large stone lions at the entrance.

I remommend the 和家宾馆(he jia bin guan) which is just a few steps inside the 华清嘉园, it locates just opposite the 清华园宾馆. the condition is better than 清华园宾馆, and just costs 168 yuan per day and even lower in the slack season.

regarding the Tsinghua dorms, anyone know if i'll have any problems checking in at 10PM next Tuesday the 15th? or will I have to check into a hotel first and then head over to the dorms the next day? i've gotten two different answers from the university so I'm not sure what's up over there. thanks!

and is there any more details on 和家宾馆(he jia bin guan)? like website, contact info, address? do they speak any english?

Not sure about whether u could check in at that moment, you can call them and ask, but surely you can check in in any hotel for all of them are 24hr check in.

和家宾馆 it's quite good hotel, clear, good condition and traffic-convinient, however, you need to reserve before hand at least 3 days earlier. they have lots of customers from oversea, so...believe no problem in communicating. Phone number is: :010--82629195 010--82629193

ps: 五道口城铁站附近有个华清家园，最里面有一家和家宾馆，特别便宜，也很干净,真的不错。不过住的人很多，要提前预订才可以。电话82629155标间好像138元.你要自带电脑宾馆就可以上网.宾馆所在小区门口也有网吧,非常方便.
