Reading subtitle quickly

I was thinking about subtitles. I see CCTV and I always recognize a lot of character.

But how can you understand them, not the characters, but the sentence?! I mean that all of the character is one word and you need to join them together in a little period. For example in english or other language, you can read more quickly, I think. Of course I'm asking for them, who learning chinese, and not native chinese. Or it's hard for a native chinese too, reading quickly?

If there is a newspaper or something else, it's easiest, but tv subtitles...

It seems to me a very hard row to hoe.

Just keep at it and listen and read, it's really just a matter of time and maybe vocabulary...good luck

natives(like me) can read the subtitles very quickly, provided reasonable time is given to read. but reading of subtitles in chinese shows is only when they cannot hear the dialouge properly.

By far the factor that is most crucial to understanding subtitles is the amount of time you spend reading, over a long period of time, obviously.

Besides that, I’d also recommend:

1) Concentrate on learning vocabulary, in addition to learning individual characters.

2) Learn as many measure words as possible.

3) Learn some of the common suffixes and prefixes.

4) Learn some of the common grammatical patterns (一…..,就…../ 虽然….,但是…etc).

I read far more quickly in English and in my native language than in Chinese. But I did learn to read the subtitles. It takes some practice, and personally when I read the subtitles I have no time left to actually watch the scene, but it can be done.

I didn't like zozovera so i changed it. Weronika is veronika in polish, and I'm learning now polish too
