Do you know any chinese SKA band? :help

Ska is a form of Jamaican music which began as early as the 1930s. Combining elements of traditional mento and calypso with an American jazz and rhythm and blues sound, it was a precursor in Jamaica to rocksteady and later reggae. It is the predominant form of music listened to by Rudeboys. Artists such as Symarip, Laurel Aitken, Desmond Dekker and The Pioneers aiming songs at these groups as early as the 1960s.

Musical historians typically divide the history of ska into three waves. There was revival of note in England in the late 1970s and early 1980s, and another wave of popularity in the 1990s, mostly based in the United States.

Two tone, Ska jazz, traditional ska, ska punk, newwave.

I don't know of any ska bands in China, but I've heard that sometimes ska bands do perform at some of the bars and nightclubs there.

Lu, could you give me a link where can I find that band's webpage, or something about them?

Ouch 哎哟 plays ska/punk.

Reflector seems quite good, but a little bit far from my taste..

Thanks, maybe if somebody know another band, just tell me :)

They're not chinese but Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra are a mighty fine band.

Byron Lee, leader of the Dragonaires, was a Jamaican of Chinese origin, too.

That's Beijing mentions them here, and there's a review of their cd here (scroll down untill you get to 'Aiyo'), that's all I could find for now. Hope it helps. You could try looking for their music on baidu's mp3 search.

I was just reading this in the New York Times:

"I’d rocked out to a Chinese ska band, the Scar, at the obscure 2 Kolegas bar

(2kolegas.com)"

The link is a dead end but maybe you can find out more about this band Scar.
