Lu Posted August 1, 2006 at 03:03 PM Report Posted August 1, 2006 at 03:03 PM Does anyone know what '绿P' means? Context is a poem (again), this takes place in a disco: 一粒红色的药丸 分成两半;如果是绿P 就一人一颗 I suppose it's some kind of drug, but can anyone enlighten me on what kind? What would it be called in English? 多谢! skylee Posted August 1, 2006 at 03:24 PM Report Posted August 1, 2006 at 03:24 PM I GUESS it is a type of 搖頭丸 and 綠 is the colour and "P" means pill. This website says it is "MDMA(Ecstasy)", the chinese is "亞甲二氧基甲基安非他明". And alternative names are "搖頭丸、狂喜、忘我、E仔". PS - According to this webpage, it is "綠色帶有P字的搖頭丸". Quote
mewaters Posted August 1, 2006 at 05:01 PM Report Posted August 1, 2006 at 05:01 PM total guess here, but it sort of sounds like "Roofie", slang for Rohypnol, aka the date-rape drug. it might be fitting in this context... Quote
Lu Posted August 2, 2006 at 02:32 PM Author Report Posted August 2, 2006 at 02:32 PM mewaters, thanks for helping; skylee, thanks so much for your research. I translated it as 'E', seems the best guess, and fits the context well enough. I suppose Chinese readers of the original wouldn't all know what it is either :-) Quote
