Qcash3 Posted August 3, 2006 at 03:46 PM Report Posted August 3, 2006 at 03:46 PM I'm not sure, but I think that officially, you are supposed to have a certain type of visa to work in China. I don't know if you taught English if you would be required to get a work visa though. Quote
mayash Posted August 3, 2006 at 04:12 PM Author Report Posted August 3, 2006 at 04:12 PM thanks for the respond. i only have a student's visa so i guess you're right thanks Quote
adrianlondon Posted August 3, 2006 at 04:19 PM Report Posted August 3, 2006 at 04:19 PM You could teach English unofficially, which I imagine is very popular. However, don't screw up your course (i.e. not doing homework and missing class) just because you fancy earning a few RMB. Quote
Qcash3 Posted August 3, 2006 at 04:30 PM Report Posted August 3, 2006 at 04:30 PM However, don't screw up your course (i.e. not doing homework and missing class) just because you fancy earning a few RMB. My parents told me the exact same thing when i told them I would try to teach English to supplement my income . Quote

galaygobi Posted August 4, 2006 at 09:02 AM Report Posted August 4, 2006 at 09:02 AM with all the grammatical errors in your postings i think it'd be better not to teach english. Quote
adrianlondon Posted August 4, 2006 at 09:36 AM Report Posted August 4, 2006 at 09:36 AM Ignore the above; it's not relevant unless your post does actually reflect the best of your abilities. Pisses me off when I see comments like that. It's a bit like saying "oh god, and he has a car?" when you see someone crashing around in a fairground dodgem ride. When I write messages on here I don't need to use the same linguistic skills as I would when writing a letter, composing a CV, or - if I were so inclined - composing some language course material. galaygobi Posted August 4, 2006 at 11:34 AM Report Posted August 4, 2006 at 11:34 AM so what if i were to make numerous major grammatical errors because i assume posting on the internet is different than writing formally. does this mean i have a good command of the english language? what i'm getting at is that a lot of native speakers figure it's their -right- to teach english. i see numerous advertisements on thatsbj.com classifieds by people claiming they're native speakers with atrocious grammar and spelling. just because i grew up in canada does that make me knowledgable in canadian politics? i can honestly say no. nor would i ever dream of teaching or even discussing that topic beyond a small conversation. anyways, it may have been a smart-ass remark but i'm just sick of people assuming that they can teach english just because they've grown up speaking it. mayash Posted August 4, 2006 at 11:50 AM Author Report Posted August 4, 2006 at 11:50 AM calm down! i never thought i have the right to teach english. just asked a simple question because i've never been to the far east. weird!!! Quote
Qcash3 Posted August 4, 2006 at 06:09 PM Report Posted August 4, 2006 at 06:09 PM Galaygobi, why so bitter? If you want to complain about things start your own thread, and don't hijack other people's threads that are actually useful. By the way, if your grammar is as good as you infer it to be, then you must know that you are supposed to capitalize the first word in every sentence . Perhaps you didn't do it because you are not writing a term paper, but posting on an internet forum. Who knows? Quote
