billiardsmike Posted August 5, 2006 at 05:49 AM Report Posted August 5, 2006 at 05:49 AM Got into Beijing well ahead of time for classes to clear red tape. I still can't find out where to go for my health exam. Help! Also, do I need to take an interpreter, since my putonghua is limited to about 20 words? Quote
PollyWaffle Posted August 6, 2006 at 02:21 AM Report Posted August 6, 2006 at 02:21 AM your university should help with this, they should have someone who can take you, may be at a cost to you... i think you can get the exam done at home before you go but the x-rays, etc will prolly cost more to do at home Quote
billiardsmike Posted August 6, 2006 at 03:09 AM Author Report Posted August 6, 2006 at 03:09 AM Thanks. I'm hoping they'll accept the paperwork from the exam I had before I left, but I'll still need the x-rays. I couldn't get anyone to tell me what their exam entails, so I had my doctor do one anyway. I didn't want to get over here and then find out I'm dying or something. Quote
jinjin Posted August 10, 2006 at 03:51 AM Report Posted August 10, 2006 at 03:51 AM Hi Everyone, I need a chest x-ray and a ECG to register my residence with the police station. I won't be able to get them before I leave--does anyone know where in Beijing I can get my medical exams done? what hospital (and address). I'm going to try to get it done the day I arrive to get it out of the way. Thanks! Quote
roddy Posted August 10, 2006 at 03:58 AM Report Posted August 10, 2006 at 03:58 AM The Beijing Health & Quarantine Station20# HepingIi Beijie, Chaoyang District, Beijing Tel.: 010-6427-4240 From here, not sure if there are other approved hospitals. I don't think you'd need an interpreter - I don't know if they have anyone who speaks English, but they're sure as hell used to dealing with people who don't speak English and will no doubt try to point and grunt you through the process even if you are fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese and any number of dialects. I need a chest x-ray and a ECG to register my residence with the police station. You don't. For your residence permit from the PSB you need the health check. Local police station registration doesn't require it. Incidentally, searching Google for 'Beijing Where to get residency health exam' gives you the above link as the third result - a little research, folks Quote

roddy Posted January 21, 2009 at 08:08 AM Report Posted January 21, 2009 at 08:08 AM Sheesh, they must want to move it out of the city in case they actually discover an infectious disease and need to quarantine it. Not too bad for students in Haidian, but no short trek for anyone in Chaoyang. Quote
