Jamoldo Posted August 5, 2006 at 03:33 PM Report Posted August 5, 2006 at 03:33 PM Does anyone know when BNU lets out for the mid year break in January? And when the second semester begins? Quote
adrianlondon Posted August 5, 2006 at 06:01 PM Report Posted August 5, 2006 at 06:01 PM I'm only studying for one semester and it ends 19th January. So that's half an answer for you Quote
KingKitega Posted August 6, 2006 at 10:24 AM Report Posted August 6, 2006 at 10:24 AM I would expect at least a few weeks break between the two semesters. Does anyone know when the second semester ends? Mid June? Quote
Jamoldo Posted August 6, 2006 at 05:07 PM Author Report Posted August 6, 2006 at 05:07 PM King, this is what I was precisely looking into. I would rather buy a cheaper ticket than one that has a fee for changing since I won't know the date... Quote
KungFoo Posted August 6, 2006 at 11:12 PM Report Posted August 6, 2006 at 11:12 PM There is a break for one month between the two semesters. There are also two other week long breaks. One is in december (some time, not christmas I belive) and a week beginning may. Quote
Jamoldo Posted August 12, 2006 at 06:59 PM Author Report Posted August 12, 2006 at 06:59 PM anyone have any info on the spring semester at all and when it ends? Quote
KungFoo Posted August 12, 2006 at 09:20 PM Report Posted August 12, 2006 at 09:20 PM Theres a month between the two terms. I think spring term ends mid to late june. I am not entirely certain though. Quote
Jamoldo Posted August 12, 2006 at 09:50 PM Author Report Posted August 12, 2006 at 09:50 PM Kungfoo, I'm thinking that I am going to have to buy a one year open ended ticket and with the recent terrorist plots, I bet they are going to raise taxes. This is going to cost me an arm and a leg. Quote
KungFoo Posted August 13, 2006 at 10:05 AM Report Posted August 13, 2006 at 10:05 AM I went to STA Travel and got an extremely good price on a year ticket, direct to Beijing, return with Air China. I dont know how good the service is in America. But for under 26s, and especially students they are the very best in UK. Check them out. Quote
adrianlondon Posted August 13, 2006 at 10:38 AM Report Posted August 13, 2006 at 10:38 AM They (STA) couldn't help me due to the fact I'm 37. Apparently, I'm too old to study. I hope to prove them wrong Quote
Jamoldo Posted August 14, 2006 at 03:19 AM Author Report Posted August 14, 2006 at 03:19 AM I can get a ticket from STA for like 1250 roundtrip well, more like 1275 since I had to pay for a student ID card, but I only get 50% frequent flier mileage accural, whereas I can still find something on Orbitz for like 1400 and get 100% mileage. Of course I'm not booking a seat until I get my visa, which I cant get until I get my HIV and other test results back.. Adrian you old dog you.. Quote
adrianlondon Posted August 14, 2006 at 08:42 AM Report Posted August 14, 2006 at 08:42 AM Adrian you old dog you.. Yeah, I know. I guess they're worried about where to stash my Zimmer Frame during the recent ban on cabin luggage. Current best deal is £450 for Emirates + £75 to change the return date. Not too bad. However, I'm going to take a Singapore Airlines flight at £725 (ie £200 more - SIA doesn't charge to change dates) as (a) I have friends in Singapore, (B) I love Singapore Airlines and their airport, and © I have enough airmiles to upgrade the return trip to business class. Luxury I will want after spending 5 months in Beijing :-) I'm going to book today, before they slam on a "Lucozade Terrorists" tax, or whatever drinks brand they were going to use to smuggle the bomb stuff on board. Jamoldo Posted August 14, 2006 at 11:58 AM Author Report Posted August 14, 2006 at 11:58 AM Adrian, let me just say that I love SIngapore Airlines, its my favorite. I've flown them as much as possible (not that much) in the past ten years whenever I have been able to en route to South and East Asia. Pity their frequent flyer program is crap... Quote
dgca4 Posted August 22, 2006 at 08:56 AM Report Posted August 22, 2006 at 08:56 AM Does anybody know if application for Spring 2007 is already open? Quote
adrianlondon Posted August 22, 2006 at 10:30 AM Report Posted August 22, 2006 at 10:30 AM Gosh - doubtful. However, you can register an Id on BNU's website whenever you like. The deadline for applying for the February semester is likely to be end of November. Quote
