Martial arts films(information required)

G'day folks,

I have decided that for a critical year 12 assignment(of 3 components, english written, chinese written and oral) to do Chinese martial arts films as my topic. I have always loved martial arts films, especially Chinese ones.

Although I know a bit about it already I wouldn't mind a bit more info. Essentially, who the big actors/actresses areJackie Chan, Jet Li, Chow Yun Phat etc. Most popular movies and why. How they have effected the chinese culture. Commonly used techniques(eg. heros always fight villians in ancient temple etc.) and just some other information that you might deem as useful.

Yeah I know its a pretty weak attempt, but hey I am very busy.Like compleely strapped for time. I shall do some searching now. Anything else would be greatly apreciated.

One thing you might like to comment on is the difference perceptions of a given film by Western and Chinese audiences. The prime example that comes to my mind is "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", which Western audiences loved, but I'm yet to meet a Chinese person (from mainland China) who likes it.
