Ian_Lee Posted February 27, 2004 at 09:51 PM Report Posted February 27, 2004 at 09:51 PM Has anybody tried those Korean style Shangdong restaurants? There are plenty in South Korea (Most Chinese restaurants in Seoul are Shandong style except a few Cantonese restaurants) and in the States. Unlike other Chinese restaurants, their menus are written in Korean and Chinese (in Seoul) and also English (in US). And also unlike other Chinese restaurants, they serve Kim Chee before the main entree is served. But the Kimchee is usually only cabbage marinated with chili powder and do not have that many varieties which authentic Korean restaurants serve (actually in Seoul they usually serve only two kinds in the eateries -- Chinese cabbage and radish). The most famous cuisine served in this kind of restaurant is Jajang Myun (Korean's favorite). But unlike the other northern style restaurants which jajang is orange-red color, the jajang served in Korean-Chinese restaurant is black color. Quote
