Apply for F-visa in Beijing?

Recommended Posts

Currently I have a 6 month F-Visa so I can study for 1 semster in Beijing. I may decide to do a 2nd term while I'm there. Is it possible to apply for another 6 month F-Visa in China or will I have to leave the country and get another visa?

Anyone know?

Thanks,

-Jeff

I don't know abt Beijing but gato recently recommended this agency for getting an F visa in Shanghai http://www.emoo.net/modules/icontent/index.php?page=5

Looks expensive but legit

Here's a thread where someone said Beijing was the easiest place to renew an F visa, but there's no specific info. But you can get it done in BJ - I'm sure someone here can provide more info on how to do it.

In the past I have extended my Business "F" Visas by myself. Just go to the local PSB station and talk to them. Pay the regular fee (should be cheaper than an agent, but I can't remember exactly how much I paid), and no problem, you have your extension. I did have to leave my passport with them for a couple of days of course, and you might want to take a Chinese person with you if your Chinese isn't too good, but pretty simple to do. Hope this helps,

Cheers

You don't need to go through an agency or leave the country as long as you got the right documents:

  • Foreign Student Visa Application Form JW201 or JW202
  • The enrollment letter from the receiving university (with official stamp)
  • Passport valid for at least 6 months
  • Passport photo

It is the Public Security Bureau that handles immigration matters in China:
