Pengyou Posted August 29, 2006 at 04:22 AM Report Posted August 29, 2006 at 04:22 AM This past May I was talking to a businessman in Beijing about doing business in China. He said that besides a wholly owned foreign entity and joint venture there is another classification of business status in China. It is a business consultant license. I am not clear what this allows you to do but he said it made it easier to get a visa to stay in China. It costs US$100 to apply for. Does anyone know anything about this? Quote
Jonny Wang Posted September 4, 2006 at 05:46 AM Report Posted September 4, 2006 at 05:46 AM I'm definitely not an expert in this area, but I do know that you can register/start a foreign owned consulting company, and at least in Beijing, I think the mimimum required registered capital is only $30,000USD. This license would basically allow you to offer consulting-type services within China (or maybe just Beijing unless you opened Rep. offices in other cities?). As far as just a consulting license, I don't see why that would make it easier to get a visa unless you also had a customer in China providing you with some kind of invitation to come consult for them. But, that's just my thinking (not based on much experience). Quote
